Chief Executive Officer
John Newsom, has more than 20 years of leadership experience in software and technology, including 18 years with Quest Software where he designed, staffed and led global enterprise sales, pre-sales, post-sales and product management teams. This hands-on experience enables him to work closely with Quorum’s dedicated sales and engineering teams to build on its one-click disaster recovery and hybrid cloud solutions. During his time at Quest, Newsom helped the company grow from 44 employees and $6 million in revenue through IPO to 4,000 employees and nearly $1 billion in revenue, leading to its 2012 acquisition by Dell for $2.4 billion.
Most recently John served as vice president and general manager of the application management business unit at Quest, where he had full profit and loss responsibility for a $116-million product portfolio. He also held various leadership roles including vice president of worldwide solutions engineering, vice president application management solutions and vice president of sales for the Americas and Asia Pacific. Initially, he specialized in selling high availability and disaster recovery software solutions for the company. Prior to Quest, he was a software engineer and program manager for Tandem Computers, a leader in fault tolerant and high availability computer systems.
John holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Computer Science from California State University at Chico. In his spare time, he also plays lead guitar for a dance rock band called Audio Bomb that covers popular music from the 1980s, 1990s and today.
Walter Angerer has nearly 20 years of experience in building and leading successful teams in storage, backup, and data protection. His vision and focus on quality and execution has built him a sterling reputation in the field.
Now a Venture Partner in Toba Capital, (which led Quorum’s $11 million Series B funding round in March 2013), he previously served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Protection at Quest Software where he was responsible for the integration of BakBone and Vizioncore. Angerer also served as Vice President and General Manager of the hardware appliance and cloud computing group at Symantec, where he created and launched a successful business in NetBackup appliances. In addition, Angerer has held senior-level positions at Veritas and Siemens, both in Europe and in the United States.
Walter holds a master’s degree in Physics from Johannes Kepler University in Austria. He has a passion for skiing and enjoys hitting the slopes with his wife, 2 children ages 11 and 13 and Tika the family pet.
Director of Operations
Amiee Gordon brings over 15 years of experience in IT services to her position as Director of Operations at Quorum.
Prior to joining Quorum, Amiee was a Senior IT Services Consultant for All Covered, a division of Konica Minolta, providing IT services and consulting for small and mid-sized businesses. Her clients included non-profit organizations, manufacturing and law firms for whom she provided strategic advice and tactical execution in all facets of IT.
Previously, as a Relationship Project Manager for ProNet Solutions, Amiee consulted community banking clients in areas of regulatory compliance, information risk analysis, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. Amiee has a long history of building relationships by collaborating to build practical, reliable business solutions, through the use of information technology, that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Amiee holds a B.S. from Arizona State University.
Vice President of Products
Kemal Balioglu leads the product team for Quorum, building on more than 15 years of global leadership in the software industry at companies ranging from startup phase to Fortune 100 and in various domains including automation, security, energy management, and data protection.
He has extensive experience in building teams that deliver high quality and easy to use products, and driving technology integration both within and across companies.
Prior to joining Quorum, Kemal was at Symantec where he was responsible for deduplication and new backup technologies for NetBackup, including bringing to market the first deduplication appliance for Symantec.
Kemal previously led teams at Shavlik Technologies (now LANDesk) and Siemens in U.S. and Europe, and holds a M.S. EE from Technical University of Karlsruhe (Germany).
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Marc H. Goroff has over 20 years of experience in technology and academia.
Prior to cofounding Quorum® (Quorum Technology Inc.), Marc was the head of Software Development at Sandpiper Networks where he led the team that created the internet’s first Content Delivery Network. Through mergers and acquisitions, Marc continued to lead software development at Digital Island, Exodus, and Cable & Wireless.
Prior to Sandpiper, Marc cofounded several successful software startups. His diverse experience has ranged from developing embedded code for real time micro controllers to operating system development on the world’s fastest supercomputers to products for distributed computing.
Marc earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology where he was also a Research Fellow before moving into industry.
Chief Financial Officer
Marty Bradford brings over 20 years of financial and operational management experience to the company.
Most recently he served as Chief Financial Officer at InMage Systems, Inc. He has provided financial leadership at both private and public companies in the software and biotechnology industries and has also worked in public accounting.
Marty has extensive experience in driving company strategy, Due Diligence (IPO and M&A) and also has a history of making process improvements at companies, which have resulted in significant bottom line results.
Marty is a CPA and holds a degree in Business Economics from the University of Washington.
Director of Marketing
Sharon Moses is a marketing guru; bringing over 15 years of marketing and leadership experience to Quorum.
Her responsibilities include ownership of corporate vision and brand; as well as thought leadership, field and relationship marketing, demand generation and pipeline acceleration. Sharon leads her marketing organization in the quest to generate high quality leads that quickly convert to revenue. Her passion for undertaking this challenge head-on and driving exceptional results is the watermark of her career. In her most recent role at Kaminario, Sharon’s efforts elevated marketing ROI to an average 35% direct contribution to revenue.
Prior to Quorum, Sharon held marketing positions at VERITAS, Symantec, Pano Logic, NComputing and most recently Kaminario.
