London, UK, November 4, 2014 – Quorum®, the leader in instant disaster recovery (DR), today announced law firm Leigh Day is using Quorum’s onQ appliance and Archive Vault to protect and replicate its data. The Quorum solution has allowed the London based firm to recover multiple files and continue its backup with peace of mind.
From helping Kenyan victims of torture to fighting the cause for clients who have suffered medical negligence, Leigh Day is one of the UK’s leading law firms. The 300-strong firm works internationally for the rights of individuals against governments and corporations, from its office in Clerkenwell and newly opened office in Manchester.
The firm turned to Quorum and Covenco for a robust backup solution that could accommodate the organisation’s growth and provide a more predictable pricing structure than the existing pay-by-capacity solution. Alongside Leigh Day’s growing data concerns, as a legal organisiation any data backed up had to comply with regulatory bodies such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Data Protection Act (DPA) in order to safeguard and protect claimants’ interests.
Quorum has deployed three onQ appliances at Leigh Day’s HQ in Clerkenwell, which supports 20+ servers. The onQs take a snapshot of the local production server every 30 minutes, backing up and replicating the entire server estate. For added resilience Leigh Day also opted for the Quorum Archive Vault. This archives the snapshots on a monthly basis and the firm has also opted to mirror the entire solution to an offsite data centre.
The Quorum solution maintains highly available up-to-date virtual machine clones of Leigh Day’s critical systems. It also keeps ready to run “Recovery Nodes” standing by which can be activated with a single click in the event of a server failure.
James Harrison, IT Director at Leigh Day said: “The Quorum solution is robust and reliable, exactly what we require at Leigh Day for managing and protecting our ever growing data. Key to the success is the fact that we are no longer worrying about whether we are going over capacity and what the monthly bill will be.’
David Fisk, EMEA sales director at Quorum said: “Leigh Day works hard to fight for its clients, a service which truly impacts peoples lives. It is therefore essential that every piece of data is well protected and can be recovered in the event of a disaster. By deploying the onQ solution, the Leigh Day IT staff can concentrate on what they do best, whilst having the peace of mind that should anything go wrong their systems are protected.”
