The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians’ main administrative office is responsible for the tribe’s payroll, human resources, and primary network functions, and includes three Windows 2008 servers in addition to six other servers used for the tribe’s dental, legal, methadone clinic, Tribal Gaming Agency (TGA) and TGA licensing services. While the tribe uses a cloud-based backup system to protect its data, this system does not provide fast recovery, since restoring data from the cloud requires time and resources to find, pull, and finally restore data. The tribe wanted the ability to instantly recover its data and applications should any of its servers go down.
Stillaguamish looked at several alternatives, including backup and recovery software that required installation on a new server. Instead, the tribe chose the onQ™ Site Recovery Appliance since it integrates a number of sophisticated backup and recovery capabilities into a single, easy-to-use appliance. “If our servers go down, we simply flip to the onQ™ appliance and we’re back up and running. Plus, we really like that we can easily restore individual files that people may accidentally erase or delete,” said Keith Ruprecht, IT administrator. “This represents tremendous time savings for us, and I no longer have to come in after hours.”
Faster recovery with onQ™ vs. cloud-based backup (minutes vs. hours/days).
Ability to restore data and applications locally saves time and money.
Simple, one-click appliance model allows IT administrators to focus efforts on other tasks.
