Backup and Restore : Export or import Repository

Export or import Repository
An export is most commonly used on the HA Appliance in conjunction with a USB device to:
•
Initialize (“seed”) the DR Appliance. To do this, simply use the export function on the HA Appliance and import function on the DR Appliance.
•
•
In order to first synchronize the DR Appliance to an HA Appliance, a large volume of data must be transferred.
If the volume of data is high relative to the network bandwidth available between the Appliances, it might be more efficient to export onQ’s deduplicated snapshot storage (or “repository”) to a removable drive on the HA Appliance and then import it to the DR Appliance.
To export a repository:
1.
2.
•
The Export button appears when an EXT4 formatted removable storage device is detected with adequate space for the local repository.
•
The Import button appears when a removable storage device is detected, and the device has a valid local repository.
3.
Log on to the HA Appliance’s onQ Portal.
4.
Stop protectionon the HA Appliance.
5.
(Important!) Allow time for any in-process backups/transfers to complete. Hover‑over the RN status for current state information.
Alternatively, you can stop the backups as outlined in Stop in‑progress backups.
6.
Go to APPLIANCE CONFIG tab > ADVANCED button > REPOSITORY page.
There might be a short delay as onQ is calculating the size of the local repository and analyzing any removable storage devices.
7.
Click Export.
A progress bar appears, indicating that the export is in progress.
8.
To import a repository:
An import permanently deletes the local repository and cannot be undone.
1.
2.
Log on to the DR Appliance’s onQ Portal.
3.
Stop protectionon the DR Appliance.
4.
Go to APPLIANCE CONFIG tab > ADVANCED button > REPOSITORY page.
5.
Click Import.
